Crane fly eye in the scanning electron microscope

Below you can see the ommatidia of a crane fly eye, which were recorded in the scanning electron microscope. On the left you can see the gold-coated crane flye 20 times magnified in the light microscope, in the middle its compound eye in 330 times magnification.
The picture on the right was taken with 4000x magnification.
