Hair in the scanning electron microscope

Below you can see a broken human hair - hair breakage - which was recorded in the scanning electron microscope at 1000x magnification.
On the right and on the left side you can see hair with a split end at the same magnification. Human hair is usually between 0.02 and 0.08 millimeters thick.
This is about 12-50 times thinner than 1 mm!
