Rabbit hair

Rabbit and hare fur usually consists of thick, broad topcoat (orange) and thin undercoat (blue). The thin undercoat hairs are usually spinnable and are therefore also called underwool.

Interesting & sad facts about Angora wool

The soft Angora wool is obtained from the undercoat of Angora rabbits. The rabbits, which are usually kept in solitary confinement, are shorn or plucked every three months: in many farms, the animals’ fur is combed or plucked from their skin while they are still alive. Bloody injuries and subsequent death from exhaustion, shock and hypothermia are unfortunately extremely common sad consequences.
