Most cats are incredibly cuddly because they have so many soft hairs. But how many hairs does a cat’s fur actually consist of? Researchers have roughly estimated this:

For an ordinary domestic cat weighing about 4kg, there are about 40 million individual hairs!

The diameters of cat hairs are more variable than in humans. They are only about 10-20µm in the undercoat and 60-100 µm in the top coat.
